Inducing Labour "The Old Fashioned Jamaican Way"

Being pregnant comes with a kind of uncommon joy. Most women usually enjoy the first two trimesters but as time winds down and the due date approaches, anxiety is imminent. To quell this anxiety, Jamaican ol' time people (our fore-parents) used to boil a cup of Thyme leaf tea with a sprig of the herb. This was said to have induce labour. They believed that it made the labour relatively quick and easy.

It was also a common myth that eating sugar can cause quick and painful labour. In my estimation these are myths but it is always good to pass on what our ancestors believed were remedies.
