King of the Forest for Liverspots

Cassia Alata, more commonly known as King of the Forest in Jamaica, as the name suggests is a valuable plant in Jamaican folk medicine. The plant is used in the treatment of several conditions, namely the influenza (flu or the common cold), respiratory conditions such as asthma, fever, skin conditions, among other ailments.

King of the Forest, however, is predominantly popular in its treatment of Liver Spots, a fungal condition which causes discolouration of the skin and results in pale spots mainly on the forehead, back, neck, chest, face and upper arms, especially in persons living in tropical area.

Natives tend to conclude that liver spots are triggered by impurities in the blood caused from the consumption of sweets and other unnatural substances. In defense, the body produces these spots as warning signals. The condition tends to thrive in persons who perspire a lot.

As such, in order for liver spots to be permanently treated, herbalists recommend consuming King of the Forest as a tea for seven (7) mornings (from the unflowering plant) as a way of purging the blood. The extract of the plant can also be applied to the skin either by extracting the juice or rubbing the plant directly to the skin.
