The tropics is filled with many plants that have been used throughout the ages, particularly by African slaves who were forced to find remedies for common illnesses. Despite, the evolution of medicine in the Caribbean, Many families still continue to use these traditional remedies to combat the effects of many symptoms associated with pain and other common diseases.

In most cases, many of these herbal plants are found growing wildly especially in rural areas where the climates are much denser. From time to time, persons have given testimonials of the relief that have been achieved from these plants. This has lead to the development of many products which are now available commercially, most of which contain substances such as Noni, Aloe Vera and Xantam Gum.


Of these three plants, Noni is the most popular. This is sometimes served in the form of wine, since its process is similar in nature to grape wine.
